Safety Restraint System

Safety Restraint System

Problem:
A large Die Casting Manufacturer was having recurring problems with hose ends blowing off hose assemblies made in their maintenance department, and injuries to machine operators and near-by equipment were becoming a major concern for all.

The practice of tying down hose assemblies to the machine frame was not being used by the customer, allowing for an un-safe environment from a whipping pressurized hose.

Depatie Solution:
In working closely with the customer, it was Depatie’s Outside Sales personnel who were promoting a “Safety Works” class, which focuses on proper system component selection and connection. The idea of using Hose Whip Restraints was introduced to prevent whipping of a pressurized hose in the event of the hose separating from its fitting. The system is comprised of two parts – a hose collar and a cable assembly. Serious damage or injury can occur from whipping hoses, especially at higher pressures. Proper Krimper training was also given, as Hose Whip Restraints is not to be used in place of improper hose crimping procedures.

Project Outcome:
The Hose Whip Restraint System Solution provided Depatie’s customer an additional level of safety for its employees and equipment and was installed on all equipment in the plant.
